Tamarind and Chamoy Covered Apples

Manzanas con Tamarindo are one of the easiest Mexican Snack you can make. They are quite a joy to eat and make. The acidic taste of the Granny Smith Apples are well complemented by the mildly spicy tamarind paste and sweet flavor of Portico powder. Chamoy is a classic topping in any Mexican snack of this kind and seals it all off with a tangy twist that will give color and an amazing flavor shock to your taste buds. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  1. Granny Smith Green Apples
  2. Tamarind paste – Zumba Pica’s Forrito Cubre Manzanas
  3. Candy Powder – Portico
  4. Chamoy – Mega Chamoy

Step #1

Wash and Dry 
Make sure to wash and dry your apples thoroughly

Step #2

Soften Paste with Heat
Open up the tamarind paste and soften it with water and heating it up in the microwave for not more than 10 seconds. Be careful with the paste as it may be too hot and may burn!

Step #3

Wrap Apple
Once it is out, extend the tamarind patty and wrap it around the apple using water to stretch it further.

Step #4

Roll it 
To give it a nice round outer edge to the tamarind layer we roll it up against a solid surface

Step #5

Portico love!
We now spread some Portico in a plate, lightly wet the outer edge of the tamarind edge with water and roll it once more.

Step #6

Cut and Decorate
Open up the tamarind paste and soften it with water and heating it up in the microwave for not more than 10 seconds.

Be careful with the paste as it may burn.
